New Kicks on the Block

Since he is walking now I thought shoes were appropriate. Aidan is the only kid of our 3 who had velcro shoe removal at the early age of 16 months! Yep that is him playing Nintendo DS!

What Not to Wear

Yep. Steve put on his best ass-kickin' traveling wear this morning. Thank god he will be sitting in the car...

Me: Uhhh...did you pack ALL of your clothes?
Fashionista: No.
Me: Looks like someone threw up on you.
F: I am comfortable. The colors match.
Me: No they don't. You look ridiculous.
F: I am not changing.
Me: Don't forget your black dress socks and black sandals to go with.
F: I am wearing my Birkenstocks.
Me: Wonderful. You're hot!

God help him!!!

Picking Up Hitchhikers

We have picked up a few in the past days.

The count Rawrs 6, Aidan 1!!! It is getting quite expensive to feed them all. Aidan has been sneaking Goldfish crackers to them.

Some Sugar Land History

The center of the sugar industry from Texas colonial days and the site of the first sugar refinery in Texas located by S. M. Williams on land granted to him by the Mexican government.

I thought Texas was all oil, cattle, women with big hair and barbecue!!!!

Something tells me that this little trip was a little bit bor-ing for someone!!! Zzzzz....

Annie at Storm Cheer

Yes. We are still on vacation. Still in Sugar Land.

Miss Hulk Hogan (check out the guns) began tumbling withdrawals. We knew this would happen prior to coming here so I signed her up at the local cheer gym, Storm Cheer, to tumble a few days during the two weeks. She tumbled twice last week and the past two days she spent at their tumbling camp. She said she had a great time, met some new friends and worked on her skillz!!!

Standing back tuck...

Things We Would Rather Not Encounter

At 6:30AM we were greeted by this thing at our car! OMG!!!!

Sugar Land Police Department: May I help you?
Me: Uhhh ya. I think you need to send someone out here to pick up a rabid opossum.
SLPD: Where is it at?
Me: In the parking lot below my apartment.
SLPD: Is it dead?
Me: No it is alive and it is walking in a circle. I think it may bite someone who is unsuspecting he is there.
SLPD: Well don't touch it (I am thinking at this point did she really just say that?). I will send someone ASAP.

So the 5-0 arrives.

The poor two young officers come out, with their Starbucks coffee mind you, and inform me it is a baby. One of the officers spread his arms out and said "the adults are this big". Nasty.

SLPO: We called Animal Control and they won't get here until at least 8:00AM.

Me: Can't you just put it in the back of your car or something?

SLPO: No.

Me: Can you shoot it? Or use your taser on it? LOL

SLPO: No.

Me: Hmmm...my husband threw his coffee on it...

Animal control finally came out to pick it up. Young guy with a trap, scooped the thing in and put it in the truck. Off it went. Adios!!!

I Finally Caught This

Please refrain from pinching your screen! I know you are sitting there making pinching motions...I am!

A Day at Galveston Beach, TX

We got up Tuesday morning and decided to take a trip to the beach.

Galveston is the closest beach, not the nicest, but it is a beach. Air temperature was 92 and I am willing to bet that the water was the same temperature! Humidity no doubt, the same 92. The trick to staying cool was getting completely wet and letting the hot breeze evaporate the water off of our bodies. We learned this from Charleston, SC. If you are hot off the beach you sure as heck are going to be hot on the beach!
And Aidan still isn't walking. He has managed to take a few steps solo. It has to be on his terms and it must be a game! We did alot of this...holding him up so the water would come up to him. The other choice was to let him crawl directly into the surf. Which he didn't mind at all.

Not only did we get to drive and park on the beach (very handy to back in and use the tailgate for shade and there was no hauling beach chairs and crap). There was also horseback riding available. Very cool in the fall I am sure but not in the sweltering heat!
Ok, the horses were a nice surprise. The kickers were the flamingo the kids saw wading in water on the side of the highway and the cattle grazing in a field darn near on the beach.

We had a great time and are going back this weekend. Steve and Tristan are planning on some sport fishing and Annie, Aidan and I will no doubt chill at the hotel pool or melt on the beach.

Family Road Trip!!!

We were supposed to leave for Houston first thing Sunday morning. We left first thing Sunday afternoon!

I had the camera up front waiting for something. Anything...this is what we got.

First off, Aidan brought along his peeps, the RAWRS. Keep reading they multiply through the days.

There are no words for this. And you guessed right. Alabama...pulled pork sandwiches at Subway!

Not too long after the Subway sighting there is this (zoom in on the license plate). I will be rechecking my Yahoo maps for an alternate route. Texas gets better...right?

Escapee

I caught my prisoner trying to escape.

I see you laughing. You see me laughing? I know you aren't walking out that door! Nice try kid, go find your dad!

It's July? Already?!?!

Don't we all say that no matter what the month is? And Christmas. It is Christmas already? where did the time go? Time flies. Vicious cycle. It will never end...you get the point.

Last weekend Steve and I took Annie and Aidan to the pool. I loathe going the pool. Nine times out of ten it is hella crowded, hot, nowhere to sit and the there is the loud mom who insists on screaming at her kid/kids from the other end of the pool instead of putting her cocktail and cigarette down and walking over to bitch her kid out about being loud and obnoxious. I know, right?

I am thinking that Aidan would much more enjoy this fountain if he would just get up and run around. I guess skinning his knees and tops of his feet are OK just as long as he is cooled by the water. Aidan loves the pool...it's just a big bathtub.
